Kim & Rob

When Kim contacted me about capturing her September wedding I was thrilled! I was even more excited when she told me she had shopped around a bit, and looked at other images from other amazingly talented local photographers but still chose me! ...that's when the anxiety kicked it! Every detail was perfectly executed, from the location, the flowers, the dresses to the food and cake. Kim's mom owns and operates a catering business and Kim's vision of her dream wedding was put together with extra attention to detail and love.

I always like to arrive early so I have ample time to get my things in order and wonder the grounds capturing the venue's details. This venue doesn't disappoint. It's nestled on the side of a mountain in Lumby B.C, surrounded by forest with so many hidden spots for unique images. The bride and bridesmaids got ready in the Bridal suite in the lower half of the main house. The suite has everything one would need for their perfect day, a master bedroom, bathroom, fridge and a whole room dedicated to getting ready.

The ceremony was beautifully intimate and personal. Kim's son's walked her down the aisle, as Rob's daughter stood proudly as another bridesmaid. After a brief congratulations, we were able to wonder away into the magic of the forest near by. The sun was just setting through the trees which made my job extra fun as it was perfect lighting for playing around with the sun flares for unique images. The venue owner collects army tanks and trucks, so we were offered to use some of these vehicles as props, which we couldn't say no to a once in a life time opportunity to climb and pose all over a tank! He even offered to drive the bridal party up to the reception in a BIG old army vehicle!

Many laughs and tears of happiness were shared during the reception. The words of love and encouragement given by those who wanted to share a few words were so touching I couldn't help but also get a bit misty... Each of Kim and Rob's children even stood in front of the crowd and expressed their happiness in gaining not only a new sibling but another parent to love and guide them. After everyone had their plate, or two or even third helping of dinner (as food was so delicious and anything but lacking!) and the table of desserts had been demolished, the dance floor opened and the music began! The party went well into the night with the happy couple dancing along side all those who came to celebrate their love.
